Training with The ASP Team has enriched my life in multiple ways -both physically and mentally, I am a completely different person.
All I remember about my first workout with Ben was that it was a big blur – literally. I was puffed, nauseous and terribly weak, all after a mere 15 minutes. There is now a world of difference in my strength capacity. I am able to push, pull and lift weights much heavier prior to training with Ben (a further testament to this is having looks of disbelief from bigger sized individuals when I push heavier weights than they do in the gym).

My cardiovascular ability, speed and explosiveness have seen vast improvements too. Previously, running short distances used to leave me winded but now I am able to sprint to catch the bus with ease. These gains have fed into other interests such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Having advantages in strength, endurance and power has upped my game immensely, giving me an edge over my opponents. In addition to having these functional benefits change my life, aesthetically my body has changed for the better. Within a short time, ASP helped me stack on a significant amount of lean muscle and reduce my body fat by a good 9.4%.
- Mac was the hard worker, but also the hard gainer, so he put it. We had the opportunity to work with Mac to improve his body composition, strength and nutrition.
- In our book, there really isn’t such thing as a hard gainer – just the wrong protocols used for a body type. One of the main adjustments we had to make was Mac’s nutrition. That being the key to hi recovering better and putting on more lean muscle. With the calorie increase, we had to ensure that starchy carbs were properly timed and that protein types were specified i.e, only introducing shakes post workout rather than through the day. We also worked to decrease his stress levels through specific supplementation and activities, as that was identified as a main factor to his inability to put on muscle.
- Workout protocols were kept succinct – 45 minutes, but each session was recorded and expected to be improved upon. It took a few weeks for Mac’s body to take to the changes but what significant results we begun to see in his physique, strength, explosiveness and overall level of fitness – all of which carried over to his sport of Brazilian jiu jitsu.
From a physical, to a mental outlook – training with ASP has instilled a stronger sense of discipline as well as greater self confidence in myself, which has translated into other areas such as work and also on a personal level. When it comes to fitness, there is no parallel. ASP’s extensive knowledge and their ability to adapt it successfully to each of clients is a testament to its success. Through ASP’s guidance on exercise and diet I have learnt so much and continue to progress and observe gains till this day.Macarius B.
